Following is a checklist to determine a quality roofing contractor:
Look up their BBB rating.
Have they been in business for more than 5 years?
Ask for referrals from your area.
Are they forthright about the steps you need to make your 15 year warranty last 15 years? Read the warranty. Many factory warranties require you to do intermittent roof check ups every few years.
Do they provide roofing photos and videos of your project.
Are they members of the following: Colorado Roofing Association (CRA), National Roofing Contractor’s Association (NRCA), Troubleshooter Network, or Manufacturer installation programs? The more the better.
Request articles of incorporation it will tell you where and when the contractor started the business.
Request insurance certificates.
Ask if they use subcontractors or employees.
Do they obey OSHA regulations?
Lastly once you have narrowed down the competition, we would highly recommend visiting the contractor’s place of business. This will tell you a lot about the company. Look for company trucks, permanent signage, organization, equipment and cleanliness.
